Cancel US Nuclear Explosions At Nevada Site
The United States abruptly canceled three small sub kiloton detonations at the Nevada nuclear testing site after word Kennedy is studying a Khrushchev note on test ban talks. A White House spokesman denied any link between the two moves. The Atomic Energy Commission and Defense Department, without explanation, called off the tests scheduled for this month. Two tests involved nuclear devices, the third a chemical high explosive. Radio Moscow accused the tests of aiming to develop new weapons and warned the USSR would not stand by idly.
