Ottawa eighth grader raises funds for promotional day
Lillie Currie, an Ottawa Middle School eighth grader, started a April 28 fundraiser to cover about 4000 in overdue lunch and other fees so all OMS eighth graders could attend the May 11 promotion. By May 1, 2365 was raised and by the deadline she delivered 4004.57 for the eighth grade and 1300 for the sixth and seventh grades to the Ottawa school district amid applause from board members. Currie said the effort ensured financial stability and equal opportunity for promotion.
