Royals Win Rainy 7-5 Thriller Over Rays

The Kansas City Royals edged the Tampa Bay Devil Rays 7-5 in a rain shortened game after bullpen work and clutch defense. Ruben Goray drove in a run and rookie Mark Teahen provided a key RBI double in the sixth to break a 5-5 tie, as Emil Brown and John Buck added two runs each. Mike Wood earned the win in relief for Kansas City, which rallied from an early 5-0 lead but later saw it shrink before the game was called with two outs in the seventh following delays. Interim manager Bob Schaefer praised the team's effort as Tony Pena had resigned earlier in the week.
