Quilt project links rural students to author visit
Students at a rural school took fabric, buttons, and backings to create a quilt inspired by the Civil War novel Shades of Gray. Getty and her husband supplied 15 bolts of fabric and old military buttons for blocks tied into red and blue striped sections. The quilt, created with care by Dina Lester and the class, was presented at a Children's Literature Festival in Warrensburg, Missouri to author Carolyn Reeder, who was delighted.
