White Church Names Negro Pastor in Chicago
The Sixth United Presbyterian Church in Chicago’s Woodlawn District has hired Rev. A. L. Reynolds Jr. as pastor, making it the first white congregation in the city to appoint a Negro pastor. Reynolds, then pastor of Moffet Olive Methodist Church in Topeka, Kansas, will begin June 3 with about 169 members in the church.

Werner wins Kansas Conference tennis singles title
Stan Werner of Baker University defeats Herb Benson of Bethany College 6-3, 6-2 to win the Kansas Conference tennis singles championship. He beat Houston Pulford of McPherson 6-3, 6-3 in finals prep.
