Kansas Court of Appeals Allows Transsexual Marriage
A Kansas Court of Appeals ruling declares a marriage involving a person who had sex reassignment surgery valid under state law. The panel says districts must judge marriage validity by the person’s sex at the time of marriage, not birth. The decision references seven factors for courts and sends the case back for further proceedings in the estate matter of Marshall G. Gardiner.

Gift controversy clouds Oz themed park land deal in Kansas
In OLATHE AP report developers of a Wizard of Oz park seek 9,065 acres from the Sunflower Army Ammunition Plant but dispute if a transfer as a gift is legally enforceable. The plan includes environmental cleanup, 2,800 acres returned to De Soto School District and Johnson County Park and Recreation District, and 1,700 acres to the park district. Legal questions arise whether labeling it a gift affects enforceability if the company fails to transfer before bankruptcy.
