County adopts road construction standards for gravel and all weather roads
Franklin County commissioners approved a resolution detailing minimum roadbed widths of 28 feet and surface specs for gravel and all weather roads. Gravel roads require 5 inches of compacted AB-3 crushed stone with a 26 foot rock width and a 4 inch crown. all weather roads use four inches AB-3 plus optional 2 inch asphalt or six inches AB-3 with chip and seal. Voting followed with Savage and Hayden for, Mavity absent for the vote but supporting the measure earlier. The county seeks 700000 in no fund warrants for trash transfer station costs, pending state board approval under recent Kansas legislation.
