Youths Learn Safety In Hazardous Occupation Training
Ten youths aged 14 and 15 completed a hazardous occupation training course led by Franklin County Agent Bob Bozworth and Miami County Agent Herschel George. The program mixed two and a half days of classroom work with field tractor practice, including backing and maneuvering, and required written and driving tests. Top scorers were Lance Harra, Chris Schweiger, Greg Fogle, Keith Smith, and Justin Smith. Fewer participants than in past years were recorded, due to fewer local farms and less youth interest in farm work. The course is required before operating farm machinery off parental property.
