Farm groups from Kansas Colorado and Nebraska urge Congress to extend the Agriculture Act of 1970 by August. Eight representatives from the regions plus Far-Mar-Co officials form a united front seeking an immediate extension. Signatories include the state farm bureaus unions and granges in the three states. The statement warns that not extending would erode the agriculture sector and harm the economy. Harold Wills of Far-Mar-Co says the move should broaden nationally to build support.
