Longtime Haysville library cat Libby Libra euthanized
Libby Libra, a resident cat at Haysville Community Library since 1983, survived a car run over, a kidnapping, a tornado and 10 days in an abandoned wing before being euthanized due to thyroid illness. Keeper Betty Cattrell recalls her mouser duties and greeting patrons. The cat, famous for sunbathing, banana bread tastes, and a guest appearance in The Kingdom of the Cat, became a local symbol of the library.
