Ottawa High School seniors Alix Lillibridge and Rebecca Brooks earned university scholarships to Fort Hays State University for 1995-96. Lillibridge won a Gold Academic Award, while Brooks received an Award of Excellence in nursing and is active in the National Honor Society Spanish Club and Teenport.

Garnett district adopts 95 96 calendar and raises teachers salaries
The Garnett school board approved the 1995-96 term start date August 21 for students and August 16 for teachers with last day May 23 for students and May 24 for teachers. The board ratified a teachers contract raising starting salary to 21,900 with an added step in each salary column funded by state funds. About 33,000 needed for the increase will come from new state money. The district also voted to spend about 20,000 to reseal the Anderson County Junior Senior High parking lot.
