Farmers Home Administration lowers rates again in May
The Farmers Home Administration cuts operating loan rates from 9.50 to 8.625 percent and ownership loan rates from 10.25 to 9.25 percent effective May 1, the lowest since 1979. Limited resource operating loans drop from 6.50 to 5.625 percent while limited resource ownership loans stay at 5 percent. Davis says the rate drop reflects cheaper government money and aids borrowers. Also, the Kansas Museum of History in Topeka opens "The American Farm," a photographic history showing farming's evolution from self-sufficient farms to high tech agribusiness amid a nationwide farm crisis.
