Whitewater case moves on after charges dropped

In Little Rock judge George Howard Jr. tossed four charges each against Gov. Jim Guy Tucker and Susan McDougal in the Whitewater trial for insufficient evidence. Jim McDougal still faces 19 charges. McDougal is cleared on conspiracy and two wire fraud counts. Tucker keeps seven felony counts including wire fraud and loan misapplications.

State revenues fall short of April forecast in Kansas

State revenue from all sources dropped 4.9 percent below the April estimate, with sales taxes $10.2 million short, individual income taxes $9.2 million short, and corporate income taxes $5.2 million short. Through ten months, receipts totaled $2.753 billion, 5.5 percent above last year.
