Old Man McRae Delivers For Royals In Win Over Blue Jays
Hal McRae, 41, extended doubts about age in baseball by delivering a two run double against lefty Jimmy Key as Kansas City beat Toronto 6-3. The veteran designated hitter, who prefers a reduced role, drove in Juan Beniquez and Danny Tartabull in the first inning and later added support as Kansas City extended its season-best streak to four. Bud Black started strong for the Royals, with Dan Quisenberry and Jerry Don Gleaton finishing, while Angel Salazar and Frank White contributed key hits amid the unearned runs and defensive miscues.
