Anti-Hazing Measure Final On Second Try
Gov. John Carlin signed two bills on Tuesday in Topeka. The hazing bill makes coercing initiation rites a class B misdemeanor with up to six months in jail and a $1000 fine, spurred by student deaths. A second measure allows Board of Regents universities to issue general obligation bonds for new construction and major renovations, including a $10.5 million Kansas Union project at the University of Kansas, repaid by student fees.
