Beneficial Insects Abound As Predators Are Controlled
Kansas State University entomologist Dell Gates says greenbugs survived winter, reproducing rapidly, threatening wheat. In McPherson area two weeks ago greenbugs were uncontrolled until Bob Bozworth noted lady beetles have mostly restrained them. Gates critiques calling them lady bugs and notes California beetles bring a parasite wasp that harms local populations.

Entomologists Promote Insect Aid For Kansas Crops
Kansas researchers discuss Lady Beetles Greenbug wasps and fungi as natural controls for aphids and greenbugs across alfalfa and alfalfa weevil. They note limited success and temperature constraints, with USDA monitoring wasp populations in 18 counties and calls for further introductions.
Bulls Throughly For Production By ROBERT W BOZWORTH
Dr Homer K Caley Kansas State University recommends semen evaluation before breeding May and June. Bulls vary in capacity from 30 to 40 cows to one per 25 in tough terrain. Avoid open cows from a single pastured bull and hire a veterinarian for semen testing and a physical exam. Ensure bulls have good feet eyes and no sore feet or eye disease.
