Gas Meter Error Lets Hays School Pay Extra
From May 1978 to March 1980 a meter reader failed to record the last digit on gas meters at Hays High. The bill dropped from 1624 to 70 dollars in one month, leading to a $27421 bill the district will pay to cover the discrepancy. Jean Ross noted the 76 and 77 bills were higher than 78 and 79. Central Kansas Power may reduce the bill or offer a lenient payment plan.

Grenade Triggered Fire Wounds 15 Soldiers at Fort Riley
