Small Businesses Fight Back
A year of 80 ago small businessmen formed the National Small Business Association to protest tax and policy advantages for larger firms. They praised some tax relief enacted since 1958 but urged permanent, long term changes, arguing the current system stifles entrepreneurship and that small firms remain 10.5 million strong and 98 percent of business units. The Agriculture Department predicts 1975 milk production around 116.4 billion pounds, about one billion higher than last year, with potential gains if feed crops materialize and prices moderate. A poor crop could keep output in check. The report notes past declines tied to high costs, herd culling, and fluctuating slaughter cow prices, and adds farm price trends and planting delays for 1975.
