Optimistic Marine Corps Leader at Da Nang Base
Maj. Mark Moore a 6 foot 4 inch Marines officer leads the 2nd Battalion of the 4th Marine Regiment at Hill 312 near Da Nang. He runs night patrols to surprise the Viet Cong and coordinates with Vietnamese troops while living in a makeshift camp with sleeping cots and hot water. Moore, from Dallas, wife and four children in California, says enemy surprises are expected and aims to keep them off balance.
