Joining An Alcoholic Won't Help Him Stop
A reader describes trying to join her alcoholic husband in bars and the failed attempt to control his drinking. Ann Landers counsels that changing her lifestyle to match his won’t stop his drinking and urges separating from the pattern, seeking personal boundaries and counseling, and letting him face his problem himself. The column then addresses related letters on community property, unworked income, and a teen seeking independence, offering practical guidance and firm boundaries.
