A 46 year old Cleveland Opera bass baritone hanged himself after a bad Lucia rehearsal. A 53 year old man in Anderson Indiana shot himself after suspecting wife online affair. A 26 year old Thai man leapt from a sixth floor window over wife’s refusal to accept new wives. A Missouri turkey deep fry fire damaged a Kirkwood house. A Canadian fugitive was captured in New Mexico after attempting to cook a frozen turkey in an office microwave.
Wellsville High School students collected 1211.62 through a Penny War fundraiser, supporting the Kosovo refugees via the Franklin County American Red Cross. Teachers and students credited discussion of the Kosovars and community involvement, with third and fifth grades contributing sizable sums.
Baldwin Bin will be among 51 students meeting in Washington DC for the 11th annual RespecTeen National Youth Forum. Katherine Lammers, 14, will represent Kansas, discussing national issues with members of Congress after sending letters on topics from alcohol abuse to foreign intervention.
Gov Bill Graves wins House approval for a 12.6 billion 10 year transportation plan funded by a 4 cent rise in gasoline and diesel taxes over five years. Bonds of 995 million allowed. The measure, backed by Democrats, funds highways airports railroads and public transit with system enhancements and rural aid.
RMH corrects most concerns as KDHE lifts immediate jeopardy status. HCFA and KDHE found 23 violations but RMH had four urgent deficiencies addressed by Wednesday. Officials caution more minor infractions remain under review while hospital eyes community confidence and funding stability.
