Ransom Hospital Reaches Settlement with TN Firm

Ransom Memorial Hospital trustees announce a settlement with Hospital Management Professionals of Brentwood Tennessee. Bob Bregant will return as RMH administrator on Tuesday as an RMH employee. The agreement follows HMP’s bid to enforce its contract after moving Bregant off the job last week.

Officials react to verdict fallout from King case

War era exhibits at Old Depot Museum open this weekend

The Old Depot Museum at 135 W. Tecumseh and the Dietrich Cabin at City Park begin a five month season this weekend with weekend and holiday hours from 1 to 5 PM through September. The World War II case in the upstairs war room is updated and 180 original editorial cartoons from Dr. James Wallen, Ottawa physician, will be shown in the upstairs hall. Deborah Barker of the Franklin County Historical Society notes the wide range of material on display.

Pottawatomie Massacre Tours Planned In Franklin County

Franklin County Historical Society and Extension Service announce bus tours of the Pottawatomie Massacre site in Lane on May 8 and 9 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at $7.50, with lunch at Lane. Homer White will help lead. reservations via 242-3166 by Monday. Future events include curator talks, railroading at The Old Depot, antique car displays, rural school reenactment, and WWII events plus more.

May Day Protests Erupt Across Moscow In Post-Soviet Russia

Thousands of workers vented anger over rising living costs in the first May Day after communism. Moscow abandoned a state parade and the legislature named it a non ideological spring and labor day. About 1,000 grew to 20,000 as they marched from Lenin statue to Red Square. Police maintained order as demonstrators displayed red flags and portraits of Stalin and Lenin.
