Alternative Society embraces religion across counterculture
An AP dispatch from Taos, New Mexico portrays the Alternative Society as turning toward religion. Dennis, Corky, and Jill recount a high on Jesus lifestyle at their Taos farmhouse, where hippie ideals meet diverse beliefs from Hindu ashrams to Hare Krishna communes. The piece explores a broad revival of faith among young countercultural groups, tied to antiwar guilt, ecological concerns, and anti-technology sentiments, with figures praising Jesus and spiritual experience as central to their life.
