Bill Pierce a 69 year old from Burlington Ontario plans a cross country bike trek along the middle of the United States. He aims to highlight small towns not seen from the coast and will travel about 19 miles a day mostly on U S 59 stopping in Ottawa Garnett and Lawrence for two nights each. Pierce prepared six months by researching maps and route options and will rely on motels bed and breakfasts or Warm Showers hosts for lodging. He expects the journey to showcase Middle America and may later author a book on the experience.
