In Tallahassee a two day crackdown yielded 842 arrests and over 305000 dollars in back child support. One father was chased through woods another found in a closet and several hid in showers as officials called it the nation's largest such sweep. About half of those arrested remained jailed days later for unpaid support.

School board backs Scout Eagle project and pond plan

The Ottawa board approved an Eagle Scout project to expand the high school property with a pond and native plantings enclosed by a fence. Volunteers will assist. The board also granted early retirement to Melva Ream after 28 years, ending this school year. An OMS team-teaching update outlined possible new hires and full-time positions to broaden the program, but no action was taken.

Central Heights hosts authors for annual reading festival
