Wellsville Police Contract Hit By Attorney General Action
Sheriff Rex Bowling says Wellsville’s plan to hire Franklin County deputies for city protection is halted after the Kansas Attorney General’s office deleted a key contract clause. The city hoped to start next week, with Mayor Bob Cramer noting a projected cost above forty thousand dollars and personnel already hired but not yet in place. Both sides will pursue a workable arrangement, exploring county or city options for policing as 1-35 traffic remains active.
