Graves proposal to split KDHE defeated in House vote
Gov Bill Graves sought to divide KDHE into separate health and environment agencies claiming efficiency gains. The plan faced strong opposition from House Speaker Jennison and failed on Thursday after Rep Carlos Mayans’ floor amendment. Critics urged more study while supporters argued the split could better address health and environmental regulations.
