Washington reporters apolitical yet wary of bias study says
Washington based reporters see themselves as largely apolitical and skeptical of power. A Brookings study of 38 percent of the capital's 1,200 journalists, drawn from 1,878 stories and 132 telecasts in one week in 1978, finds half view the press as unbiased and half see liberal bias. Most reporters are white males from the Northeast, work long hours, and report that editors rarely alter their copy.
