Ottawa Wrestlers Shine at State Meet With Top Showings
Parenti was the sole Ottawa girl at the state tournament while Jared Parenti took second in the 46 pound class at the Kansas 6 and Under Championships in Ottawa. He had been undefeated all year until the finals where he suffered his first loss. A total of 373 wrestlers qualified for the state tournament in Ottawa.

Ottawa wrestlers qualify for state youth tourney finals
Thirteen Ottawa youth wrestlers advanced from the District 1 tournament in Ottawa to the state youth wrestling championships at the Expo Centre in Topeka this weekend. District champions included Mason Turner 8 and under 43 pounds Dalton Weidl 10 and under 90 pounds Lee Koch 10 and under 100 pounds and Marcus Ferguson 14 and under 205 pounds. Runnerups were Alex Aguirre 10 and under 85 pounds Chris Coover 14 and under 135 pounds Joseph Wittman 14 and under 140 pounds. Fourth places Caleb Parenti 10 and under 95 pounds Riley Browning 12 and under 84 pounds Brock Ben arden 10 and under 120 pounds. The tournament drew 680 wrestlers from eastern Kansas.

Ottawa University signs Jennifer Brown in first women’s golf class
Ottawa University announces Jennifer Brown of Osage City as the first signing for its new women’s golf program for 2007 08. Brown is a three time state qualifier from Osage City High School finishing fifth this year and a 2006 Region Runner up earning all conference honors and school honor roll. Ottawa coach Wendell Smith says Brown’s dedication and competitive attitude fit the student athlete model at Ottawa. Wellsville High School earns Kansas Volleyball Association program of the year for the third time, reflecting the team’s sustained success and involvement in the Midwest juniors program as coach Dowling retires and Eric Evans will take over next year.
