Ottawa area sheriff logs report of family abuse and crashes

At 1 03 p m Saturday a 38 year old Ottawa man said two of his minor children were sexually molested by a family member. At 3 37 p m a 24 year old Richmond woman reported a 1998 Saturn collision with a yellow Honda four wheeler driven by a 15 year old Richmond girl. At 10 58 p m a Garnett man said his 2008 Dodge Ram hit a deer. Also a Friday theft on Kingman Terrace involved a total value over 50000 dollars in tools and items from an 83 year old Ottawa woman.

Theft reports and a vehicle collision in Ottawa police logs

Police notes list several thefts on Monday in Ottawa including a wallet stolen from a 65-year-old woman on Rockwood Drive a battery and games taken from a 30-year-old man on S Cherry Street medication stolen from a resident at Ottawa Retirement Village and welding gear from Select Steel. A late Monday 11:38 p.m. accident on S Cherry Street involved a 31-year-old driver and a 17-year-old.

On March 16 1911 Ottawa History notes a cedar tree from Chickamauga may be planted April 1 as a Grand Army of the Republic memorial. Comrade W E Kibbie offers a 12 foot tree. a government cannon will also be placed. County and city officers raided three Ottawa stores for confiscating wet evidence, seizing Hawkeye Bitters and Gentian Bitters from Dr C L Cowdery’s drugstore, which he said were sent for trial.

Jim Seaver, longtime host of Kansas Public Radio program Opera Is My Hobby, died at 92 after a pacemaker procedure in Lawrence. A KU professor emeritus and opera expert, he taught ancient history for about four decades and remained a volunteer host until his death. he was the uncle of Baseball Hall of Fame pitcher Tom Seaver.
