Hall of Fame seeks state funding to stay open

At the Kansas Sports Hall of Fame in Abilene, executive director Ted Hayes warns that without a legislative funding bill the museum could close within months. The hall, housed in a former bank since 1997, has relied on sporadic state grants and faces a $300,000 budget. A proposed bill would levy a per-game surcharge on state universities to fund the hall, potentially raising about $150,000 annually to sustain exhibits and programs.
