Investors cheer as inflation slows with housing starts down
The February CPI rose 0.3 percent led by higher food costs while gasoline eased, keeping annual inflation at 3.7 percent for the year. Dow rose 22 points to 4060 as housing weakness signals slower growth and potential restraint on Fed rate hikes. Analysts expect a soft landing sustained by moderating inflation through continued rate restraint.
