County plans no tax hike to close Franklin County landfill
Franklin County commissioners agreed to a 880000 project pairing landfill closure with a new solid waste transfer station to be funded without a tax increase. Damon Pursell Construction will close the site by May 10, 117 days, under a KDHE approved plan with six inches of cover, seeding, and graded runoff. The closure costs 460000. funds come from no fund warrants backed by a 2.3 mill levy, jail revenue, and sales tax transfers to bond debt, offsetting the levy changes. Southview Homecare will rent 1387 square feet in the county annex for about 7900 yearly, with remodeling by Southview. Conservation Resources Inc. proposes a curbside recycling plan for Franklin County as the county shifts waste handling.
