Corey sentenced for 2000 Ottawa sex assault case
In Franklin County Court, Ralph E. Corey, 53, was sentenced to over 33 years in state prison on five charges for the February 2000 attack on a then 16-year-old girl. Judge Eric W. Godderz ordered the terms to run consecutively due to the calculated nature of the crime and multiple opportunities to stop. Ottawa school board taps KASB to search for superintendent
The Ottawa school board voted 7-0 to hire Topeka based KASB to conduct the search for former superintendent Dean Katts successor. A KASB representative noted the candidate pool may be smaller this year as many superintendents already have contracts for 2013 2014. Katt resigned March 1 and will stay on the payroll through Oct. 31 as a consultant under a settlement preventing discussion of his departure.
