Weekend Showers and Cool Weather Ahead in Kansas

Regional forecast calls for Saturday night showers with a 60 percent chance of rain and possible thunderstorms, lows near 34, winds varied from south to west. Sunday will be very cool with mostly sunny skies and highs around 50, followed by cold Sunday night. Monday periods show partly cloudy skies with highs in the 50s, while Tuesday through Friday turn partly cloudy with near 80 degree highs.

Perry commutes death sentence for Houston killer

Gov. Rick Perry has commuted the death sentence of Robert Smith, a Houston man with an IQ about 63, making him eligible for life in prison. Smith, 36, was involved in the 1990 murder of James Michael Wilcox during a clothing-store robbery incident.

St Patrick’s Day Dinner at Emerald Church

St Patrick's Church at Emerald hosts its 6th annual St Patrick's Day dinner offering traditional Irish stew and corned beef and cabbage with Swedish music by Tullamore. Event runs March 14 from 11 am to 2 pm. located 6 1/2 miles south of Williamsburg on Colorado Road, with directions from Waverly.

Obituaries for Lona Addington and Nellie Garrett Derby

Lona Addington, 87, died March 8 2004 in Joplin Missouri burial at New Salem Cemetery near Neosho. She lived in Seneca and worked at Boeing Wichita during World War II before retiring in 1975. She survived by two sons four grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Nellie Garrett Derby, 89, died March 11 2004 in Derby Kansas funeral planned March 16 at Garnett chapel. She and her husband ran Garrett Pontiac and she helped in various local clubs and church activities. Burial at Graceland Cemetery Burlington. Memorials to Derby Senior Center and Alzheimer's care group.

MCI settlement in Oklahoma to create 1600 jobs

Tax Correction on Kansas Gasoline Rate
