Kansas high school sports body approves anti discrimination rule
The Kansas State High School Activities Association executive committee approved two proposals to prevent discrimination against officials. The move follows last month’s decision by St Marys Academy to bar female official Victorie Campbell from a boys game over her gender. The rule adds a statement to the handbook and to approved schools’ applications, aiming to ensure equal opportunity for all officials starting 2008 09.

Drake shines as Valley nets unlikely NCAA bid hope
Drake (28-4) surged to No. 16 after routing Illinois State 79-49, boosting Valley confidence despite broader NCAA berth doubts. Analysts say Drake could be a dangerous No. 5 seed, led by sharpshooting guards and a lineup of former walk-ons, transforming the conference’s profile after a decade without dominant bids. Local coaches warn of the fickle bubble but praise Drake as a potential elite upset risk.
