Injury Bug Fells Ottawa Cyclones In Bid For .500
The Ottawa High Cyclones finished 7-13 in the '82-'83 season hampered by injuries that sidelined top scorers Todd Schultze and Derek Chappell at key times. Coach Don Swartz notes eight starters rotated through the lineup as Chappell, Schultze, Bishop and others were hit by injuries, ending with a 7-point loss to Chanute in the sub-state. Chappell averaged 11.6 points and led a talented trio including Popp and Schultze, while Popp topped the EKL in rebounds with 9.8 per game and 57 percent shooting. The program expects eight of twelve players back next year as they rebuild.
