Stella Maxine Collins 90 of Tarboro North Carolina died March 5 2012 at Vidant Edgecombe Hospital in Tarboro North Carolina Grave side services planned for 10 am Friday March 9 2012 at Highland Cemetery Ottawa She was born December 18 1921 in Ottawa to William Franklin and Mabel Hazen She moved to Roanoke Rapids North Carolina in 2003 and Tarboro in 2009 A 1939 Ottawa High School graduate she owned Collins Boarding Home and was a nurse s aide for over 40 years retiring in 2001 She married Emil Verne Curly Collins in June 1940 in Illinois He died October 27 2005 Survived by two sons Richard Collins and Robert Collins a sister Barbara Adams a sister in law Evaline Pritchard and husband Jim a special family friend Linda Wilks six grandchildren several great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren Preceded in death by parents husband siblings and four sisters Donations may go to Alzheimer s Association through Dengel Son Mortuary Ottawa Kansas 66067 Condolences at dengelmortuary com and ottawaherald com
At 1:29 a.m. on Monday Cassandra M. Hamilton 25 of Pomona was arrested on suspicion of DUI of prescription drugs after refusing EMS treatment at 600 North Main. At 6:57 p.m. Monday Craig Brady 30 of Wellsville was held at Franklin County Jail 305 South Main on a stated warrant. Doyle Currant 39 of Ottawa was arrested at 9:38 a.m. Monday for suspended license and no insurance at 300 East Ninth Street and Dammond White 22 of Ottawa was arrested at 10:47 p.m. Monday for possession of marijuana at 100 East 23rd Street.
A 35 year old Wellsville man reported someone entered his barn and horse trailer at 3300 Shawnee Road and stole tools saddles and other items. Loss estimated at $3500. Sunday accidents on Sand Creek Road and Old U.S. 50 involved two vehicles striking deer with damages over $1000 each.
Police report at 4:38 p.m. Friday in the 700 block of South Liberty Street a 44-year-old Ottawa man says a 22-year-old Ottawa man threatened him with a knife and pushed him. At 3:43 p.m. Sunday on South Main Street a 25-year-old Ottawa woman reports property stolen from her purse. At 12:12 p.m. Monday at Community Foursquare Church, 117 E Ninth St, a 76-year-old Ottawa man reports items stolen from the church.
Police records show an animal complaint on West Fourth Street and multiple welfare checks on Locust Maple Main Street. Public assists occurred on Main Street Edgewood Oak Street, with a warrant arrest on Oak Street and Edgewood Street.
Fire crews investigated a smoke odor at 8278S Tremont St at 5 47 p m Monday with no fire found. Firefighters aided seven medical calls from Friday through Tuesday. Franklin County departments logged multiple grass fires on Saturday and Sunday across Centropolis Pomona Lincoln Ottawa Harrison and Cutler townships and John Brown Road.

Tomberlin 69 of Ottawa Kansas died Sunday March 4 2012 Born April 29 1942 in Kansas City Kansas to Rev C T and Velma Foley Worthington She lived in Turner Kansas and attended North East Missouri University Ray married July 23 1981 in Overland Park celebrating over 31 years of marriage Moved to Ottawa in 1998 She was a golf enthusiast and former ladies champion at Ottawa Country Club winning tournaments in Joplin and St Louis Worked as a dental assistant later an apartment complex manager with Lincoln Property Company Retired in 1983 traveled with husband to industry meetings Funeral services 2 pm Thursday March 8 2012 at Lamb Roberts Funeral Home Burial Woodlawn Cemetery Pomona Memorials to Vitas Hospice.
