Larger But Fewer Farms Seen For Area In 1975
A Kansas extension analysis projects up to 16 000 farms could vanish by 1975 if the trend toward larger units continues. From 1940 to 1968 the state slashed farm numbers from 156 000 to 91 000, and if the pattern holds there may be about 75 000 farms in Kansas by 1975.
