Marie Natvig a Miami Beach divorcee was indicted on nine charges of lying under oath in a turnabout testimony at federal communications commission hearings. She first linked Edward Lamb publisher broadcaster to communism then repudiated the testimony. The indictment does not determine if she lied about Lamb.
The Ohio River continued to rise toward crests the highest in years. 706 families have been moved from lowland homes and 116 businesses suspended along the river in Ohio. Predicted crests include Cincinnati 61 feet, Portsmouth 60, Ashland 62.5, Huntington 59, Gallipolis 57. Gallipolis to see crest tonight, then downstream. Harry D. Spencer, a house painter from Indiana, took a New Orleans job feeding and cleaning cages for a firm that supplies monkeys to U.S. zoos. He earned 20 dollars weekly but suffered bites chills and a fever of unknown origin. He is in Charity Hospital and plans to return to painting.
In Kentucky, 60 year old Mrs. Mattie Brandenburg faces County Court over the Slaying of Delton Vanderpool. Vanderpool, a 31 year old son-in-law, died after a gunfight at Brandenburg home as Brandenburg returned fire from a closet. Sheriff Palmer says the incident began when Vanderpool forced entry and announced his intent. Vanderpool was shot in the chest and knee and died about 400 yards from the scene.
HOLLYWOOD George Gobel and Walt Disney are frontrunners for TV Emmys as NBC broadcasts the seventh annual Television Academy awards from Hollywood and New York. The black tie show runs 11:30 p.m. to 1 a.m. EST with Steve Allen and Dave Garroway hosting. Jackie Gleason postpones vacation to attend.
Ralph Dewey De Shazer a farmer from route 2 northeast of Ottawa died yesterday at 11 30 a m in Research hospital Kansas City after major surgery ten days earlier He was born September 5 1898 in Irving Kansas and moved to Ottawa in 1950 Survivors include his wife Alberta Conard De Shazer his father William Douglas De Shazer a brother and three sisters Funeral services will be at Lamb Funeral Home Wednesday at 3 30 p m with Rev W E Berger officiating Interment Highland cemetery
Ambrose Feuerborn 48 of La mont Wyoming died Friday night from a heart attack. He moved there two years ago from Greeley where he taught in the public schools before joining Sinclair Refining Co. Survivors include his wife and children Myron Glenn Carol George Larry Tommy and several brothers and sisters. The body will be returned to Garnett for funeral services with the date pending
Adm. Felix B. Stump of the U S Pacific Fleet dodges a direct yes or no when asked if US plans cover defense of the Matsu Islands near Formosa. He said the United States can defend anything against the Communists, leaving Red forces guessing and keeping options open.
Washington Sen. Holland and other Democrats oppose the $20 per person income tax cut passed by House Democrats. He says Senate Democrats were not consulted and it is not a party issue. Other lawmakers weigh party lines and potential campaign use as Byrd and Georg join Republicans in opposing the measure. Ellender also opposes citing inflation risks.
Secretary of State Dulles continues his briefing to President Eisenhower detailing findings from a two week, 26,000 mile tour in Asia. He called the trip a study of the forward positions of freedom as the United States assessed geopolitical hot spots and allied commitments in the region.

In Akron Ohio a deaf and blind couple, Mr and Mrs Harold Hathaway, won a juvenile court case. Judge Russell Thomas ruled the County Welfare Department cannot force them to place their two week old son in foster care. The judge said they may keep the child with no strings attached.

London reports President Marshal Tito announced that Yugoslav scientists are pursuing atomic research and plan to generate nuclear power for productive purposes.
Harold Hawk Hawkins born in Huntington West Virginia rose from amateur radio to WWVA fame on a Saturday night show. At six feet four and three quarters he is billed as Eleven yards of Personality and records for RCA Victor. He now lives in Springfield Missouri and performs on KWTO and OZARK JUBILEE. See him at Plaza Theater on Wednesday March 15.
