He worked at Bennett s Creamery for 25 years and later in construction. He collected antiques and was a farmer and cattleman. He helped found Power of the Past Antique Engine and Tractor Club. Delayed hearing in Melvern child sex abuse case
The preliminary hearing for Ronald L. Hartpence Jr. on two rape charges and one aggravated indecent liberties charge has been continued for the third time. His next court date is 10:30 a.m. March 13 in Osage County District Court Lyndon. Hartpence remains jailed on a 300000 bond. The case dates back to alleged acts between Sept. 1, 2011 and Nov. 27, 2013 involving a child under 14. The two rape counts and the indecent liberties count each carry life in prison with no parole for 25 years. The Kansas Attorney General's Office assists in prosecution.
