Franklin County and Ottawa posted January sales tax gains led by Franklin County at 8.77 percent to 313,563 while Ottawa rose about 12.25 percent to 72,269. Smaller Franklin County towns Pomona Wellsville Williamsburg all fell, Pomona down 48 percent to 988, with Osawatomie up 6.4 percent through January. Statewide January revenue dropped 8.61 percent to 33,677,527 despite a 6.89 percent year to date rise to 215,601,682.

Airlines cut prices in spring fare sale across major carriers
The Associated Press reports American and Northwest Airlines slash tickets 40 to 50 percent in a spring sale. Continent al and USAir match discounts.
