Kansas fourth and eighth graders posted strong NAEP results in reading for 39 participating states. Eighth graders tied for fifth nationally with a score of 268, seven points above average. fourth graders scored 222, seven points above average, with Connecticut, Montana, New Hampshire, Maine, Massachusetts, Wisconsin and Iowa all ahead in various groupings. One Arrested In February Garnett Robbery Case
Misty G. Branam, 26, of Williamsburg, was arrested by a Franklin County deputy at Old US-50 and Iowa Road on an Anderson County warrant charging aiding and abetting aggravated robbery. She posted a $20,000 bond and was released. the other suspect remains at large. The truck driver said two others met him in Ottawa, then they robbed him at gunpoint and fired shots but he was not hit.
