Clinton confidante Vernon Jordan testifies in Lewinsky case

Vernon Jordan says he will tell grand jurors the truth about his role and insist the friendship with President Clinton remains enduring. He spoke after a full day of testimony and said prosecutors want him back Thursday. Jordan described his relationship with Clinton as based on mutual trust and respect while denying any motive to harm the president. He acknowledged arranging a job for Lewinsky and other contact, which raises questions about urging silence after her subpoena in the Jones suit. Lewinsky’s lawyer seeks to quash Starr subpoena, asserting attorney-client privilege, with Carter challenging the subpoena and Lewinsky now represented by William Ginsburg.
