Pride recognizes Ottawa Pride members for 1993 work
The Second Ottawa Pride Recognition Night at First United Methodist Church honored Workhorse awardees for leading 1993 projects. Wyndee Lee received for 911 house numbers and blue ribbon status, Debbie Henningsen for the newcomers program, Andy Haney and city staff for city clean up and tire pickup. Also honored were Pride officers and volunteers who supported projects including clean up, Christmas lighting, wooden house numbers, downtown Victorian planters, and newcomer welcome efforts.

County approves tax deal to let ECKAN build home
Franklin County Commissioners unanimously dropped about 3974 in delinquent property taxes and allowed East Central Kansas Economic Opportunity Corp. to build a three bedroom modular rental home at 700 Cypress. Trail boosts Wisconsin tourism and property values rise

About 125 people watched Ottawa Middle School Auditorium host a county spelling bee. Driver finished second and became state competition alternate, while Richardson and Gibbons earned trophies for strong performance. Jail bids back to drawing board in Garnett county project
Garnett anderson county officials failed to receive any bids from local electrical and plumbing contractors to renovate the county jail. Triangle Builders of Kansas Paola won the overall bid at 64100 including supplies but not labor. City of Garnett refused a county request to do the work to avoid competing with locals. The county may ask Triangle to remove supplies from its bid so the work and supplies can be bid separately.
