County gathers donations for Harveyville storm victims
Franklin County's public transportation department collects nonperishable foods toiletries and cleaning supplies for Harveyville storm victims. Drop off 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Ottawa Senior Center rear entrance. Donations will be transported to the storm struck town where 11 injured and much of the town destroyed.

Severe Weather Blasts Centropolis Area Tornado Hits Harveyville
Severe weather swept through the region with an EF-2 tornado touching down in Harveyville, damaging parts of Wabaunsee County. Centropolis area residents reported 75 to 80 mph winds and a morning view showed extensive damage near the Franklin Douglas county line. A mother recalled hail rattling windows as a fast-moving storm passed, while Baldwin City also sounded tornado sirens.
