County sells half-interest in mineral rights to Flynn
The Franklin County Commission approved selling a 50 percent mineral rights stake in 160 acres at 3995 Thomas Road to Buster Flynn for 524.29 to recover delinquent taxes. The deal returns the half-interest to the tax rolls and reduces the county’s back tax balance of 1,572.88. Flynn has owned the land since 1963 and the mineral rights had belonged to others. The sale was initiated after the sheriff’s delinquent tax sale last September drew no bids. The other half-interest owner was William Paxton of Lakeside, California. Commissioner Mavity is in Florida until March 4. The transaction recoups taxes and places the minerals on the tax rolls for assessment.
