New York AP reports a surprising May trade surplus of 1.05 billion, reversing expectations of a deficit. Imports fell 11.5 percent from April mostly due to reduced oil purchases, while exports dropped 5 percent. The result signals improving US economic health and could mean exporting more than importing in 1975, versus a 1974 deficit of 2.3 billion.
