Volunteers Build Richmond Fair Barn
Volunteers from the Central Heights FFA chapter led a three day effort to raise and roof a new pole barn for the Richmond Free Fair. The project used only volunteer labor with fair association supplying materials costing about 3000 dollars and could have cost another 3000 if hired. The BOAC project goal drives future chapter plans as Garnett FFA members and fair staff helped finish the structure and discuss adding a wash rack.

Mulching Guards Garden Moisture In July Heat
Guard against moisture loss by mulching as advised by Kansas State University's Chuck Mart. A light colored mulch reflects heat and cools soil, reducing evaporation by about half and smothering weeds. Mulching also reduces soil compaction and improves aeration, aiding vegetables all summer.
