Bus shelters added where no buses run in Mesa

Mesa city officials installed two bus shelters on Broadway Road as part of a 7.7 million improvement project finished about a year ago. Buses turn before the stops, and despite no-service signs, people wait daily, highlighting a misstep amid transit budget cuts.

Driver gets 50 years for leaving man to die in windshield

A jury in Fort Worth, Texas, sentenced Chante Mallard, 27, a former nurse's aide, to 50 years for striking Gregory Biggs, 37, with her car and leaving him to die in the windshield. Biggs survived only a short time. authorities said he would have lived with timely medical care. The court heard emotional statements from families as Mallard faced the verdict and verdict-related forgiveness from Biggs' son.
